I Don't Want To Go Back...
All of us are on our own journey. Some, early on in the experience, others further along. But every single one of us is travelling in to the unknown, doing the best that we can with what we know.
Many have had life changing transformations emotionally, physically or spiritually. Transformations that have taken years, extreme highs, lows, sacrifice and adversity.
In some cases, the by-product of this is an overwhelming fear of going back… of returning to a previous state of being. Of course, this is normal. Think about it. You’ve put time, literal blood, sweat and tears in to making changes for the better. You’ve worked hard. You’ve come out on the other side. Perhaps you have lost a considerable amount of weight and with it had a huge shift in mindset and how you look at and interact with the world around you! You’re happier now. You’re more focused at work. You feel more connected. Your relationships are better. You are healthier…Life is just, better! Until, the thought of going back causes so much anxiety, you’re crippled.
Firstly, unless time travel is actually real, you cannot possibly go back to your former self. You are who you are in this very moment.
Know - these are JUST thoughts and YOU have control over your thoughts. It is natural for negative thoughts to enter your mind every now and again, but learn how to recognise, acknowledge, and set them free. Let go. Surrender. Surrender to the now. Focus on each moment and what you have to be grateful for!
When you are in a state of gratitude, you cannot be in a state of fear. You can only be in one or the other. So, the very act of thinking or writing down the things in your life that you are grateful for, is powerful beyond measure.
Know that you are going to have shit days. You are going to have set backs and fail and fail again. This is life my friends. But without the struggle, we can never truly appreciate the joy. Living in a state of fear and anxiety means you’re missing out! You’re missing out on the beauty that’s around you, the opportunities, the connection.
