Is it really that simple?
When people want to lose weight or change their body composition, they automatically think drastic or expensive.
This could look like extremely low calories, spending hours performing cardio or buying supplements that help “promote” weight loss. When really, it doesn’t need to be that complicated! This is boils down to what is constantly being jammed down our throats in the media to try and make us believe that we ‘need’ all of those things to lose weight.
Really, there are 3 things you should focus on
1. Growing muscle
No, this will not make you look “bulky”. Building muscle and losing fat will help to change your body composition. This is where you will see the big changes! Growing muscle should be done by following a program that focuses on building strength and progressive overload. This means tracking your training progress and increasing the load, the amount of reps/sets etc. More muscle will mean more calories burned at rest also.
It takes time! Most people give up before they see the results they want, it isn’t a quick fix but if you focus on being consistent and setting achievable goals to work towards like building strength, more wholesome food, drinking more water it will all fall into place and become second nature.
3. Eating in a calorie deficit
If your goal is fat loss, you must eat less calories than your body burns each day. It is important that you aren’t going too extreme, the deficit should be slight. Be sure to make any changes when results stall. This is where having a professional to help you understand and work out what your body requires will make your progress a lot easier to understand and follow.
Lastly, always make sure you enjoy your training! This will make it a lot easy to find the motivation!
